Tikshan Sud is an Indian Politician and Social Worker elected three consecutive terms from Punjab, India, as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
1. Early life and Education
Tikshan Sud was born in Hoshiarpur district in the Indian state of Punjab. He is a graduate of Punjab University, Punjab in Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Law. He also has a Masters in Political Science from the same University. He married Rakesh Sud and has one son and two daughters and resides in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
2. Political Career
Tikshan Sud was the Secretary of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Chandigarh from 1973 to 1976. In 1977, he became the President of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Hoshiarpur and presided uptil 1980. Subsequently, he became the President of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Hoshiarpur in 1983 and remained so uptil 1990. He was the District President of BJP, Hoshiarpur from 1995 to 1997.
Elections Contested by Tikshan Sud in Punjab
Tikshan Sud was elected as MLA from Hoshiarpur Constituency in the 1997 Punjab state assembly election and was inducted as State Minister for Excise & Taxation in SAD-BJP alliance Government in Punjab formed in 2000.
Again, Tikshan Sud was re-elected as MLA from Hoshiarpur Constituency in the 2002 Punjab state assembly election and was inducted as BJP Group Leader in Punjab Vidhan Sabha and also became a member of the BJP National Executive.
Yet again, Tikshan Sud was re-elected as MLA from Hoshiarpur Constituency in the 2007 Punjab state assembly election and was inducted a Cabinet Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Medical Education and Research, Forests and Wildlife Preservation wing of the Agriculture department and Labour, Punjab. Tikshan Sud held all these portfolios simultaneously.
Tikshan Sud was not so lucky in his fourth and fifth innings. Although, Tikshan Sud lost the 2012 Punjab state assembly election but he was appointed the Political Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2013 to 2017.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, of which Tikshan Sud is a member, too, lost both the Punjab state assembly elections of 2012 and 2017 in Punjab.
Now, Tikshan Sud is a member of the BJP Core Group of Punjab. He is also the life member of the Managing Committee of the Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana and a member of the Board of Management of Shri Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University, Punjab.
